 Jim Adams, President

Dr. Jim Adams is currently Quality Systems Consultant at Robert Half International Consulting in Troy, MI.   He has over 25 years of experience in the field of Automotive Quality. He holds a Juris Doctor in Business Law from the University of Toledo, a MA in Industrial Management from Central Michigan University, and a BS in Biology from Bowling Green State University.  Dr. Adams is an ASQ CQE, CQA, CQMgr and a RAB QMS Lead Auditor for ISO-9000.  He is also an ASQ Fellow.

Glenn Peace, President-Elect

Glen is Senior Expert in Robust Design and Statistical Methods with Valeo Automotive with responsibility for leading Engineering Teams in the appropriate use of Quality Tools and Techniques for developing new products and solving complex quality problems. Previously, he was Manager of Quality Consulting and Services with ITT Automotive. Prior to entering the Automotive Industry, he was Corporate Expert in Design of Experiments for Texas Instruments. He is the author of A Hands-on Approach to Quality Engineering, a book on Robust Design. Glen also was awarded the “Best Technical Paper” by the American Society for Quality at the 42nd Annual Quality Congress for his work with integrating screening experiments and surface response designs. Glen holds B.S. Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Accounting and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Glen is also Senior Member of The American Society for Quality and is a Certified Quality Engineer and a Certified Taguchi Methods® Expert (through the American Supplier Institute). He has over twenty years experience in the Quality and Safety Fields. He has trained and consulted with over 100 different companies spanning a variety of industries.

Shahid Faruqui, Secretary

Shahid Faruqui, is a Reliability Implementation Engineer at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI. He has over 12 years of reliability experience in commercial and defense industry. He is also experienced in technical training, management and engineering design. Shahid developed quality and reliability (Q/R) plan for SN95 and S197 Mustang. He coached and mentored PMTs/PATs and suppliers in the Ford reliability process, FRG, quality and reliability tools and reliability engineering in general. Shahid has a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering. He completed graduate courses in Computer Science. He is also a CRE.

Mike Smith, Treasurer

Mike Smith, is currently the Advanced Quality Manager for Valeo Automotive motors and actuators Branch. Mike came from the Aerospace and Defense industry where he was a Senior Group Manufacturing Engineer at Martin Marietta and a Producibility Engineer at ITT Defense and Electronics. He is an expert in Taguchi methods and was SPC coordinator at ITT Defense. He has over 20 years experience in Electronics Manufacturing Engineering and has worked closely with suppliers and customers in problem solving activities using Robust Design, Shainin and other methodologies. Mike has presented many times at the ITT defense Taguchi Symposium in Washington DC and has publish many papers and articles in various trade publications on a variety of technologies using advanced problem solving techniques. Mike has a BS degree in Aerospace Systems from Southern Illinois University, he is the current ASQ education chair for the local ASQ chapter, He is also an ASQ CQE and CRE and is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt from IQF. Mike also teaches classes on Reliability data analysis and Measurement Systems Analysis. Mike continues to be a strong influence in the discipline of Six Sigma activities within Valeo and promotes both a systems approach to advanced quality and the use of quality tools in advanced designs.

Paul Abernathy, Public Relations Director

Paul Abernathy currently works at Continental Teves in Auburn Hills, Michigan as the Quality and Warranty Information Systems Administrator. He has several years of experience in Automotive Quality. He has played a major role in warranty sharing negotiations with Ford and Chrysler. He has completed the CQE course.
